I went to Seaford to discuss the tail tattoo with Alex.
I got my fins started yesterday, linework on my left leg started! I'm so excited about the final result and all the stages inbetween.
I got my right leg started on the 27th, healing both legs (one in the early stages and one in the late stages) is fine although I think I'm quite difficult to live with right now!
I am very pleased with my legs so far.
On the 2nd I got some colour on my right leg.. it's not just red it's RED. I love it but there is still a long way to go.
My leg is so swollen though. I can't say I'm really surprised.
Yesterday I didn't have more work done to my fins or the fore-planned Lionfish. Instead I made the last minute snap decision to get a Nautilus, which is another element to my lower body/legs piece that was planned but I hadn't set a date for.
So Lionfish or more fin work for next time!
More work to my fins done today. AND I now have colour on my left fin!
More also done to my right leg, pictures to follow once initially healed. Today
was fun with laughs to be had by all.
My next appointment is in two weeks
time and after that I don't know when I'll next be able to get another session
in. But it is SO good to have colour on both sides and not just one leg of
colour and one leg of linework.
Last time I was healing both legs at once I
was such a grump, hopefully I will be easier to live with this time around and
finding a sleeping position will be fun tonight.
So today I got my long awaited Volitan ... well the line work at least. It looks beautiful and works so well with the curves of my bum. Nothing makes me happier than the stages to becoming more complete. I don't know when I can next get an appointment, as soon as Kester is willing to bunk a day off Uni really. Then comes the colour! I have no clue where my colour reference picture went to, I think it truly is lost. I will just have to draw another one up, no big deal.
I thought getting my bum cheek out in front of anyone except Kester would be really awkward and uncomfortable for me but the whole experience was made really easy by all involved.
I have booked my next tattoo appointment; it has been too long since my
last appointment. I am booked in on the 28th! Less than a week away now. I’m not
going to Alex this time as I am having great difficulty in making my way to
Seaford. I will be going to In Skin to Laura who did my hazard symbols for me (a
few years ago now). My tattoo will be related to my whole mermaid theme but is
not a part of my leg project. Even if I can’t get to Seaford for a few months
now my legs are only to be done by Alex.
It will be a tattoo on my throat. It is a very delicate design that I will add
to in the future with the intention of it eventually covering my neck, it
features one sea urchin and two shells.
I am so very excited, a Christmas present to myself.
I know now is the time to be more visibly tattooed, it is an important step for
me to take in my life and now is the time to do it.
First things first, I had the choice of getting into town a few hours
early and sitting around in Kester's car or getting dropped off at my parents
and having to catch two trains. I chose sitting around in a car playing DS and
reading my rabbit magazine (not forgetting some chocolate eating as well).
I was just getting more and more excited with time.
Then finally came the time to make my way to InSkin. I was nervous on the way, I
realised that I hadn't been there for at least a couple of years so it felt a
bit nostalgic.
I get there and I sign forms hand over some ID and discuss the colours I desire
on my throat piece. While everything was being set up I glance through some
flash books as I had no intention of sitting still. Then it was time to go in...
The stencil was placed, then checked, double checked and then triple checked the
placement. It was perfect so away we went! The whole experience was fine and
pain free, although I was a little worried to talk at times due to the
placement! I still managed to get a lot of chatting in though. I had a great
time and I couldn't be happier with the end result!
Today I went back to InSkin for a touch-up session on my throat piece. Now it looks even more beautiful than before! I can’t wait to see it fully healed now, I really can’t.
After my appointment at InSkin I booked in for my next tattoo which is a daffodil that I am going to have on my right elbow. This piece will tie in with the poppy and primrose tattoos already on that arm. Whilst every tattoo I get is related to my “Modified Mermaid” project I am working on another tattoo project that will eventually cover both of my arms. The project is called “Industrial Vs. Organic”. My left arm will consist of industrial elements; such as robots, machines and other man-made objects. My right arm will consist of not only organic elements but all those featured on my arm will be native British species; such as foxgloves, daisies, red foxes, brown hares etc.
So yesterday was my long awaited next appointment with Alex. Hooray! I was hoping to maybe get just one fish (and was having great difficulty whether to have my shark or carp done first) but I was able to stay prettymuch all day from 11 until 6 and now I have both my shark and my carp. Goodness me they just look so gorgeous!
At about lunchtime a lady came in to get a tattoo (special place, haha!) so we took that time (1 hour) to eat something for lunch. We both had vegetable lasagne which I thoroughly enjoyed.
I could not be happier with my fishies and I’m over the moon with the progress that was made.
All in all I had a thoroughly brilliant day!
Today I’m no where near as swollen as it seemed I was going to be but getting undressed to go to the toilet is difficult. Luckily though I don’t go back to work until Tuesday so it isn’t too much of a bother to take 10 minutes just to go to the toilet.
I couldn’t decide whether I wanted to get the anchor yesterday or an Oscar (fish). I have a list made up of the order I want to get my tattoos in and these two images are tied so I asked which one Alex would rather do that day and we went with the Oscar.
And my oh my is it gorgeous! Currently unfinished but it already looks absolutely amazing! Oscars almost look like fire is smoldering under their scales and this comes though in my tattoo. Once again I just couldn’t be happier!
Today I had my most recent tattoo appointment. First of all my oscar was finished and, wow, he looks just gorgeous! When he was all finished a start was made on my anchor which is on my chest, between my boobs. Definitely the most painful session to date. When I next go back I’ll get it finished but I can already see how amazing the final result will be!
I thought it was about time I posted the current progress of my leg project. As you can see I still have a long way to go.
I had a long overdue tattoo appointment. The session was spent on developing the anchor on my chest. It was my most painful session to date (correction: it was my first painful session to date). Not only for the pain factor but this tattoo session was a whole new experience in many ways, it almost felt as if there was a new dynamic to it. All I can really put it down to is that it was my first session where it was just me. I don't necessarily mean in the physical sense but in the sense that I had taken a path in life that was purely my own.
Yesterday I had my first tattoo appointment since October and it was time for my Blue Tang to be born. I absolutely love it and the blue is just outstanding. Fish-wise my upper left leg is almost complete and then it will be time to work on the lower leg (and my right leg, of course). Whilst I was there I booked my next appointment for 21st May to continue with my left leg. I think that one of the best things about yesterdays appointment was to be back at Midnight Tattoo with the great environment that I always experience there.
I went for my appointment with Alex at Midnight Tattoo. This appointment was dedicated to getting my Lionfish finished (for about a year I only had the outline). It looked great before but now it has colour it looks absolutely outstanding. How Alex's brain didn't explode I will never know. I could not be happier with the outcome.
My next appointment is Monday 22nd June and the plan is to get the fins of my mermaid/fish project finished with more red and more shading. I can't wait!
The aim of today was to get the fins on my legs to a finished (or near-finished) state. So with today's appointment with Alex that was the goal and, with maybe the exception of possible touch-ups, that goal was met. More shading was added and the red was made so vibrant. I am made up with the results. Now I have the swelling to look forward to... Pictures to follow as soon as the swelling goes down.
